All About ECA
When residency time comes around, one of the documents we have to provide is proof that our kids are attending school. We understand that some expats in Spain have found workarounds in order to homeschool, but we are not living in Spain in order to challenge their home education laws, regardless of our opinions about them. Instead, we subscribe to the philosophy that "education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a life." (Charlotte Mason said that), and we are beyond grateful that our kids can attend Evangelical Christian Academy.
Especially since the pandemic, during which our kids were able to continue meeting virtually and began in person in August, ECA has proven its value to our family. Susanna and Austin have the same teacher this year, and Miss Y is one of the most vibrant, intelligent, and intentional teachers I've ever had the privilege to see in action. She has rolled with the punches, supports us so well when we have a child at home with cold symptoms, and is also a wonderful friend.

It's because of teachers like Miss Y, and so many others, that our kids are happy. Both Austin and Susanna are friendly, open and willing to try new things, meet new people, and help us with many ministries, and I believe it is in part because they are getting fed and discipled at ECA. Every day they feel different, shy, and out-of-place, but they are learning to embrace it because they know there is a safe place where they share so many things in common with other Third Culture Kids.
We are in need of teachers for the upcoming school year! Every day is an act of faith for our director, because ENROLLMENT is up! We will have a full school in the 2021-2022 school year, but in order to teach them we need two things:
More teachers! Please click here to see the openings. If you have ever wanted to live abroad, this is an amazing way to do it. Our organization can help you, or you can look into other orgs that help teachers and administrators serve abroad.
More Space! ECA is currently raising funds to build an indoor sports court. This additional space will facilitate classes like PE and music to happen at the same time, plus provide additional classroom and office space.
If you can't join our staff in Spain, you can still help! Another parent is hosting a Trades of Hope party right now, and 100% of the commissions will go to ECA! This is win-win! You can join the party to learn more and get a chance to win a prize TODAY at 3 pm EST. Join here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ecafundraiser
