An Invitation...Served with Nutella

From time to time I write for an expat blog and newsletter called Taking Route. Recently an essay I wrote was featured in the monthly newsletter, which I have to say is one of my favorite newsletters out there.
Here's an excerpt from my essay on familiarity:
Many summers ago, while staying at a white stucco hotel on the shores of the Black Sea in Bodrüm, Turkey, my grandma and I were served traditional Turkish breakfasts every day of our stay. Upon our arrival to the outdoor patio, the proprietor brought coffee for my grandma and hot chocolate for me followed by plates of sliced tomatoes, crunchy cucumbers, a generous bowl of marinated olives, and a thick slab of tangy feta cheese. An entire stack of rustic, airy bread--one for each of us--accompanied this bounty, and I got my own jar of Nutella.
