Come, Faithful, and Adore Him
My second favorite Christmas song is "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful."
My first favorite is "The Little Drummer Boy," but I don't talk about that because it's my favorite for a very personal reason and so many people dislike the song I can't convey my feelings on it. Suffice it to say that if I think about sharing my "talent" with the King of the world, I am overcome.
"Oh, Come All Ye Faithful," though, people love. And I love it too, because of its simple, blatant invitation to do the thing God's presence demands - adore Him. I can't help it. When He appeared to people in the Bible, they couldn't help it either. The shepherds couldn't resist, and neither should we, especially at Christmastime, when everyone around is singing about His Glorious Appearing and living like He doesn't exist.
Oh, Come, All Ye Faithful By John F. Wade 1767
Oh, come, all ye faithful, Joyful and triumphant! Oh, come ye, oh, come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold him Born the king of angels: Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
Highest, most holy, Light of light eternal, Born of a virgin, A mortal he comes; Son of the Father Now in flesh appearing! Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above! Glory to God In the highest: Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
Yea, Lord, we greet thee, Born this happy morning; Jesus, to thee be glory given! Word of the Father, Now in flesh appearing! Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Oh, come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord.
