Happy Thanksgiving from Portugal
Getting this post up a bit late, since we've been back and battling colds for over a week, but we did have a lovely time in Albufeira, Portugal with our ABWE teammates from Spain and Portugal and our Western Europe Regional Director.
The kids had a good time at kids club with their friends while we attended a great session each morning on Fresh Faith. Over the week we got to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner (not your typical American food, but fun nonetheless) with our team, go out to eat with most of the Spain team, enjoy lunch with our director and his family, play on the beach (in long pants and winter coats), and even go on a date! Our kids got to play with their friends and make new ones at various times throughout the week, but the highlight for them was spending most evenings with our friends the Hagues, who are working at a church plant in another part of Madrid. They have 2 girls the same age as Susanna and Austin (plus two more), and we all get along really well.Â
The road trip was a challenge - almost 8 hours of driving and navigating where to find lunch... it really wore us out and the stress may have contributed to our all getting colds and feeling the culture fatigue a bit strong lately.Â
Please enjoy these photos from our trip!
Thanks for thinking of us and keeping us in your prayers. Next year will be the Western Europe conference, so we will travel a bit further and spend time with all the missionaries in Western Europe. In the meantime, we have language school, continuing to adapt and go through the process of making ourselves at home here. We have already had many conversations about the Gospel and look forward to how God will use us and our little church in Spain.Â
