Seven Questions
Francis Chan. Maybe you've heard of him, maybe you haven't. I don't know a lot about him, but I trust some of the folks who do, and I recently read that his aim in ministry is to help Christians grow in a deeper love and passion for Jesus.
That sounds pretty good!
I want to re-blog a good amount of the stuff that comes through my reader. I do edit. I promise. But this one I wanted to share. Chan spoke recently at the Desiring God conference, extolling the following Seven Questions to Ask Before You Preach or Teach the Bible:
Am I worried about what people think of my message or what God thinks? (Teach with fear)
Do I genuinely love these people? (Teach with love)
Am I accurately presenting this passage? (Teach with accuracy)
Am I depending on the Holy Spirit's power or my own cleverness? (Teach with power)
Have I applied this message to my own life? (Teach with integrity)
Will this message draw attention to me or to God? (Teach with humility)
Do the people really need this message? (Teach with urgency)
Thoughts? Do you agree? If you're in a position to teach the Bible, do you struggle with any of these?
