Tallinn: delightful refreshment and unwavering Biblical hope
I wanted to share a bit about my time in Tallinn, Estonia for the Thrive retreat. Their vision is "Global women are known and cared for," and they accomplish that through retreats in different parts of the world at various times that are almost free - we just have to get to the location. This year in Estonia, our speak Peg Forrest spoke about unwavering Biblical hope, and her message each morning was a life-changing perspective shift. It was such a blessing to worship God in English every day and to meet global workers serving God around the world.

Two of my Spain coworkers and one from Italy were able to come, and we traveled with a new friend who serves in Southern Spain. Besides Peg's speaking, my favorite part was the night we got to meet other workers serving in the same country. A team of young women in Barcelona were able to receive encouragement, ideas, prayer and contact information from my teammates who have successfully planted churches in Spain. We are hoping to connect them with some of our resources as well.
At the retreat we were placed in small groups, and I was able to meet and pray for people from the Middle East, Great Britain, Estonia and Russia, as well as our two volunteer leaders. I love hearing what is happening around the world.
One day we were able to explore Tallinn, which was a boost of refreshment for me (though I came down with a terrible head cold and spent three days recovering at home). Tallinn is a medieval city. Culturally it is caught between Scandinavian culture, being just across the Baltic Sea from Finland, and the influence of its Eastern European neighbors and time as part of the Soviet Union.

Thanks for coming along as I shared my time in Tallinn. It was the perfect way to start the busy fall and winter season, and even though I caught a terrible head cold and spent three days recovering at home, the refreshment went deep and I was still experiencing the joy and connection God gave me while I was away. If you are a global worker, I recommend Thrive retreats!
