We Hang Humbly by the Thread of His Calling
In a moment of humanity (not at all rare!), I recently complained mildly about how it can be frustrating when people express an interest in supporting us, receive all the information and tools they need to do so, and then do not follow through. It's not a big deal, but it can be frustrating.
This weekend we had some friends over for dinner. We are friends with this couple (we'll call them Josh and Crystal, because those are their names. Hi Josh and Crystal!) because Chris was Josh's high school youth leader. When we were first beginning our missions journey, they asked to be kept updated. Over dinner, they asked tons of questions about the process, gushed over our prayer card, and declared it time to begin monthly support.
The very next day, we got the email from finance announcing their automatic gift.
Oh, how this humbles me! God's faithfulness never ceases to amaze me. That He would answer the inconsistent and selfish prayers of a sometimes jaded and often unbelieving person like me is just incredible. It reminds me that Chris and I humbly hang onto the title "God's servant" by the thread of His calling. Yet, like the photo at the beginning of this post, we are secure in it, not because of anything that we do, but because of what He does. Which is provide the support we need to get to Spain in His timing, on His dime, and by His will.
